I EXIST!
Bullying is one of the major evils of our society today and sadly its on an unprecedented rise. It is a major social problem faced by school children in the United States. And unfortunately with all the social networking sites becoming an everyday norm, this problem has skyrocketed to all time high.
For this project I decided to focus on bullying because as a mother of a toddler this is a major concern I wanted to highlight. Bullying can have long-lasting effects and it should be a combined effort on everybody’s part condemns it.
In response I designed letterforms using light to convey the message that I Exist! Light is all around us but it isn’t. Similarly, bullying occurs all around us but we choose to overlook it. While creating these letters I allowed the imperfections to showcase that no one looks alike, we are all different and unique and should be appreciated for our imperfections.
I used a LED slim torch and a manual camera on slow shutter speed to create my letters. These letters were showcased in an exhibition and I designed a teaser poster, poster showcasing the letters and an invite to the exhibition.
